Hundreds of major merchants, organized by MDS, paused Amazon advertising for 24 hours over payout, ad-billing and surcharge changes.

PYMNTS reports that hundreds of major Amazon merchants paused advertising for 24 hours on April 15, 2026, in a protest organized by MDS. Sellers objected to changes in payout timing, ad fees taken straight from earnings, and a temporary 3.5% fuel surcharge. Amazon replied that the changes affect a small group and that the surcharge helps offset higher fuel and logistics costs.
It shows how payout timing, ad fees taken from earnings and a surcharge add up to cash-flow pressure, and how Amazon responded.
This April 15th boycott is not just about an ad fee.
